    Tinubu emerges ECOWAS chairman

    Bola Tinubu has been elected as the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Tinubu’s election took place during the 63rd Ordinary Session of the regional bloc held in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, on Sunday afternoon.

    Following his election, Tinubu expressed a commitment to prioritize democracy, acknowledging its challenges while emphasizing its importance as a form of government. He received handover documents from the outgoing chairman, Umaro Embaló, the President of Guinea-Bissau.
