At least three people were killed and four injured in a fresh clash between farmers and herders in the Dogon Duste community, located between Nasarawa and Toto local government areas of Nasarawa State. The incident was confirmed by Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, during a briefing in Lafia, the state capital.

The violence occurred on Monday, November 18, around 4:30 pm, according to Nadada. “The Divisional Police Officer received a report about a clash between farmers and herders. Two individuals were found dead on the farm, while four injured victims were rushed to Primary Health Care for treatment,” he explained.

A subsequent search operation uncovered a third body in nearby bushes, bringing the death toll to three. Nadada assured the public that normalcy had been restored to the area, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The Commissioner emphasized that the Nasarawa State Police Command is collaborating with local communities to enhance security and prevent further conflicts. He also highlighted an action plan based on collaborative policing, which has contributed to reducing insecurity in the state.

“The state is regarded as one of the most peaceful in the country due to the strategic partnership with communities and the support from the state government,” Nadada added.

Residents were urged to maintain their cooperation with security agencies to ensure lasting peace and safety in the region.
