    The Senate President pledges to maintain strong bilateral relations between Nigeria and Turkey

    The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, conveyed Nigeria’s commitment to maintaining the bilateral agreements between Nigeria and Turkey. These agreements encompass various areas, including education, health, and military collaboration to combat terrorism and insecurity. Akpabio assured that the 10th Senate would make every effort to ensure the continuation of the longstanding bilateral relations and collaboration in critical sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries. These statements were made during a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Hidayet Bayraktar, in Abuja. Akpabio expressed appreciation for Turkey’s experience in dealing with insecurity and terrorism, highlighting the importance of cooperation and collaboration, not only in military matters but also in healthcare and other sectors. He also emphasized the significance of unity in Africa’s fight against terrorism and insecurity, and expressed the Senate’s interest in visiting the Turkish Parliament for the exchange of parliamentary ideas.”The Senate is committed to ensuring the continuity of this cooperation for the overall benefit of both countries,” assured the President of the Senate.

    The Turkish Ambassador extended congratulations to Akpabio on his election as the President of the 10th Senate. He conveyed the Turkish government’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Nigeria and providing increased support to improve various sectors of Nigeria’s economy.

    In another meeting, the Senate President welcomed Rev. Father Innocent Jooji from the Abuja Catholic Diocese, who delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of Archbishop Rev. Ignatius Kaigama. Jooji assured Akpabio of continued prayers for his success, his family, and the entire National Assembly. He also offered prayers for a better Nigeria under the current leadership at all levels
