Iwerele, located in the Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, was gripped by fear on Monday as a clash between multiple security groups, including the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Amotekun, Operation Burst, and Soludero, and a group of herdsmen reportedly left several individuals dead.

The exact cause of the conflict remained unclear at the time of this report. However, a respected community leader confirmed the clash.

According to the source, a group of herdsmen had encroached upon a local farm with their cattle, leading to a heated dispute that tragically resulted in the farm owner’s demise.

Our correspondent also learned that a joint force comprising security operatives from Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun, and Soludero was dispatched to restore peace in the area. Regrettably, they were allegedly ambushed by the herdsmen. The exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed.

At the time of this report, attempts to reach the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for a statement were unsuccessful, as he was not answering calls or responding to text messages.
