Former Political Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Prof Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, has praised the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, for positioning the party for victory in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued in Abuja, titled: ‘A steady hand at the helm of the APC: Celebrating a remarkable leader,’ Alkali said Yilwatda has provided steady and purposeful leadership since assuming office one year ago.
“We celebrate one year of purposeful, steady progress, and advancement of the APC under your able and inspiring leadership,” Alkali stated.
He noted that Yilwatda took over the party on July 25, 2025, at a critical time in Nigeria’s political history, with high expectations and enormous challenges.
“When you assumed the mantle of leadership, you accepted a responsibility that demanded hardwork, courage, wisdom, patience and unwavering commitment,” he said.
Alkali said the APC chairman justified the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and party leaders through determination, administrative ability and creativity.
“Over the last one year, you have shown that true leadership is not measured by loud noise, but by calm judgement, fairness, integrity and the ability to inspire confidence,” he added.
He commended Yilwatda’s inclusive style, saying it has strengthened unity within the APC and promoted constructive engagement among stakeholders.
Alkali described the successful conduct of the APC primary elections as a defining moment, noting that the exercise was handled with wisdom and impartiality.
“Under your watch, the Party navigated that sensitive exercise with maturity and credibility, laying a solid foundation for the journey towards the 2027 General Elections,” he said.
He further lauded Yilwatda’s commitment to dialogue and reconciliation with aggrieved members, stressing that the efforts have made the party stronger and more united.
“Your humility, approachability and focus on collective interest above personal considerations have earned you respect within the party and beyond,” Alkali said.
Concluding with prayers for the APC chairman ahead of 2027, he said: “May Almighty God continue to grant you wisdom, sound health and strength to provide visionary leadership for our great party and nation.”
