Ten communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in office.
The communities demonstrated solidarity with a cheque of N50 million in support to the governor’s campaign during a rally at the local government headquarters, Neni.
Addressing thousands of residents, local leaders and stakeholders, Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anaocha, emphasising the strong work ethic that characterises the Igbo culture.
“We Igbos are known for our hard work and enterprise. Those seeking to pervert our values do not represent us; they do not define who we are as a community, particularly when we know that the majority of our people are doing great things,” he said.
The governor reiterated his administration’s support for small-scale traders.
“I want to make it clear that petty traders and those with capital below N100,000 are not required to pay any form of levy or tax. We are a party committed to uplifting the poor and ensuring that no one is left behind. This principle is exemplified in all our policies,” he said.
Soludo also highlighted ongoing infrastructure development in the area, noting the extensive network of dual carriage roads that form part of the over a thousand kilometres of roads being constructed across the state.
“We are only just beginning; further progress is on the horizon,” he assured.
The governor, who was conferred with the chieftaincy title of ‘Ekwueme Anaocha,’ said, spoke on the future of leadership in the state.
“After my administration, I will ensure that governance is handed over to someone from the Anambra Central Senatorial District. This undermines my commitment to inclusivity and fairness in political representation,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the Presidents-General, Chief Kenneth Echendu highlighted positive changes brought about by Soludo’s leadership.
“Governor Soludo has improved our communities through robust infrastructural development. The roads and facilities enhancements have made access to essential services easier for everyone. His engagement with community leaders has fostered collaboration and good governance at the grassroots level,” he said.
Mrs. Obumneme Okafor, a proud parent and free education beneficiary, spoke about the life-changing impact of the free education initiative.
“Thanks to Governor Soludo, my children now attend school without the burden of fees. The commitment to revitalising our educational system offers hope for a brighter future for our children—and for our community as a whole,” she said.
