Seyi Law Backtracks, Apologizes for Claiming Nigeria Is Safer Than a Decade Ago

    Published on

Seyi Law, a popular Nigerian comedian known for his strong support for president Bola Tinubu, has made a U-turn over his stance about the security situation in Nigeria.

This comes after he was heavily criticized for saying the country is more safer than 10 years ago despite the growing attack by terrorists and kidnapping across Nigeria.

His statement sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians online, with many condemning him for not being sincere with the security situations due to his relationship with the ruling party.

Reacting to the public condemnation, Seyi, in an apology video on Instagram, described his comment as insensitive.

“My fellow Nigerians, I owe you this & more. I’m sincerely sorry for such an insensitive statement that I made on the Honest Bunch podcast. I’m not someone who would be too proud or very insensitive to apologize when he makes mistakes.

“I had looked at that statement and I think it is quite insensitive to those who have had an issue with kidnapping, relatives been killed and all that. I want to sincerely and unreservedly tender an apology to those who that statement has hurt. I believe that statement is very insensitive”, he said.

He further called on president Tinubu to take the security of Nigerians more seriously.
