The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Chief Samuel Chigizie Uwandu, CPA, as Commissioner, Inspectorate (South East) of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).
Uwandu’s confirmation came alongside that of four other nominees who were also approved as National Commissioners of the agency.
The newly confirmed officials include Agbaje Opeyemi Olukayode (South West), who will serve as Chairman of PENCOM; Hon. Hafiz Muhammad Kawu Ibrahim, OON (Commissioner, Technical – South West); Samuel Chigozie Uwandu (Commissioner, Inspectorate – South East); Charles Efe Sylvester Emukowhate (Commissioner, Finance – South South); and Bello Abubakar Malabu (Commissioner, Administration – North East).
Their confirmation followed the Senate’s consideration and adoption of the report submitted by the Committee on Establishment and Public Service, chaired by Senator Oluwole Fasuyi Cyril.
Presiding over the plenary, Deputy Senate President Senator Jibrin Barau commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating what he described as “outstanding Nigerians” to key positions in the commission.
“We are confident that they will bring value and integrity to the operations of the agency,” Senator Barau stated.
