Road sewage manhole cover vandals in Abuja were apprehended

    Published on

Security personnel have detained a few individuals who are accused of removing sewage manhole covers off roadways in the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, Abuja.

Lere Olayinka, the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s media aide, stated in a statement that efforts are also being made to capture their accomplices, particularly those who purchase the manhole covers.

Olayinka claims that pertinent parties are already making a lot of effort to put an end to these illegal activities in the nation’s capital. He stated that Wike, who bemoaned the diabolical practice of Nigerians removing and selling sewage manhole covers on highways, promised that the government would take all necessary steps to hold those responsible accountable.

The government using public monies to provide amenities for the benefit of the populace, only to have “criminally minded Nigerians remove the amenities and sell them to Nigerians” is a sad development, according to Wike.

According to him, the threat that “their nefarious activities pose to their fellow citizens” is not a concern for the offenders.

According to Olayinka, the FCT minister expressed gratitude to Nigerians, praising the individual who took the time to record the widely shared video and characterising his endeavour as a show of patriotism the nation has long yearned for.
