The Methodist Church of Nigeria has ordained Right Reverend Nkechi Nwosu as its first female bishop in Nigeria.

Archbishop of Kaduna, the Most Reverend Joseph Nnonah, ordained Nwosu on Sunday at the Christ Methodist Cathedral Church North Central as the Bishop of Jos.

The service is to formally give effect to the decision of the 2022 biennial Conference where Nwosu was elected as the Bishop of Jos.

Nwosu, who in her remark noted that God made all humans equal, urged Nigerians to always seek the face of God.

Speaking about the next general election, Nwosu said, “We must go out there and agree with God, do what God said we should do.

“By so doing, God will use us for anybody he will put on that seat to restore Nigeria to a place of pride in Africa and the world.”

Bishop Nwosu, however, officially commenced the spiritual activities as the Bishop of Jos Diocese, which she sees as a privilege in the spreading of the gospel without any prejudice.
