APC by-elections victory: Onanuga taunts Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai

    Published on

Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, mocked opposition figures following the poor performance of the African Democratic Congress in Saturday’s by-elections.

Onanuga, in a post on X on Monday morning, shared a picture of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai with the caption: “How is the market now?” The remark, seen as a taunt, comes amid renewed questions about the relevance and strength of opposition parties in the current political climate.

The opposition leaders, who are targeting President Bola Tinubu’s ouster in 2027, participated in the election via the African Democratic Congress to test their popularity. But the ruling All Progressives Congress won the majority of the seats, with the Peoples Democratic Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party recording some victories.
