Representatives, Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas meet behind closed doors

    Published on

The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Rivers State is now meeting with the sole administrator, retired vice admiral Ibok Ete Ibas.

After multiple postponements, the meeting is finally taking place.

The parliamentarians’ determination to utilize their constitutional authority to assume the duties of the Rivers State House of Assembly is signaled by the meeting.

Ibas apologized for missing the prior meeting and asked for more time to get ready to brief the committee during his remarks at the meeting.

Ibas requested the committee’s understanding, stating that he is still getting used to his new position.

After he pleaded with the committee, the meeting was adjourned behind closed doors and journalists were excused.

Following the declaration of an emergency in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu named Ibas as the only administrator.

After Tinubu suspended Governor Sim Fubara in accordance with the emergency rule decree, Ibas was appointed.

Nyesom Wike, Fubara’s predecessor, and he have been at odds over the state’s political system.

Tinubu suspended Fubara, his deputy, and members of the state House of Assembly as a result of the altercation.
