The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, emphasized the party’s goal of transitioning Nigeria from a nation that solely consumes to one that actively produces. This shift aims to engage the youth in meaningful employment, ultimately reducing criminal activities.

During his visit to Jos, Plateau State, alongside other party stalwarts supporting the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates Gyang Zi and Daniel Asama, Obi issued a stern warning against vote buying. He urged citizens to resist the temptation of accepting money from politicians in exchange for votes, emphasizing that such actions contribute to increased violence, hunger, and a decline in education.

Expressing concern about the deteriorating state of Plateau State, which was once a hub for agricultural produce and a destination for political and economic meetings, Obi attributed the decline to prevailing insecurity issues.

He called on citizens to collaborate in reversing the alarming trend of orchestrated violence and criminal activities. The situation, according to Obi, demands urgent attention.

National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, echoed these sentiments, decrying the high cost of living and urging citizens to vote for the candidates presented by the LP. Abure stressed the importance of defending votes, recalling past electoral challenges and emphasizing the need for unity to secure victory.

Aisha Yesufu, part of the campaign entourage, urged citizens to actively participate in the electoral process, emphasizing that elections are crucial for securing a better future. She warned against complacency, asserting that the right leaders must be chosen to address the challenges facing the nation.

In her impassioned plea, Yesufu urged citizens to reject staying at home during the election day, emphasizing that the fight extends beyond politics to safeguarding lives and protecting the nation. She urged everyone to vote for candidates who will genuinely represent their interests.
