    Police Service Commission Partners with Bureau of Public Service Reforms for Innovative Changes

    The Police Service Commission (PSC) is poised for significant reforms following a productive meeting between its Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd, mni, and a delegation from the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) led by Director General Dasuki Arabi. The meeting took place at the PSC’s Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

    DIG Argungu emphasized the Commission’s commitment to establishing a collaborative partnership with the BPSR. He announced plans for the Director General to address PSC staff on public service reform requirements, signaling a proactive approach to enhancing policing in Nigeria.

    “We will embrace the Reforms in the Public Service and are ready to make necessary decisions,” Argungu stated, underscoring the importance of prioritizing the nation’s welfare over individual interests. He also mentioned the upcoming establishment of a quality assurance unit within the Commission to ensure accountability and efficiency.

    During the meeting, Director General Arabi congratulated the new leadership and pledged support to improve the country’s public service. He highlighted the Bureau’s recent digital initiatives, including the digitalization of the public service treasury account, which has enhanced government financial tracking.

    Arabi urged the PSC to consider digitalizing police promotions, recruitment, and disciplinary processes to improve performance. He also stressed the need for capacity development within the Commission and the Nigeria Police Force, calling for better-equipped police training institutions.

    DIG Taiwo Lakanu rtd, a Honourable Commissioner at the PSC, assured attendees that the Commission is dedicated to fulfilling its mandate in alignment with BPSR’s requirements, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.

    This collaboration between the PSC and the BPSR marks a significant step toward reforming the police service in Nigeria, with a focus on innovation and improved service delivery.
