    ‎Police arrest 11 after Makurdi cult attack claims six lives

    ‎No fewer than six people have been confirmed dead, following a suspected cult-related attack in the early hours of Monday, at Aliade Street, High Level, Makurdi.

    ‎The Commissioner of Police Benue State, Ifeanyi Emenari, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, said one other victim is receiving treatment in hospital.

    ‎The police, according to the statement, received a distress call at about 0230hrs from a landlord on Aliade Street reporting that armed men stormed his house, dragged some young men out of their room, and shot them.

    ‎He said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, adding that preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was carried out by a team suspected to have been led by one ‘Odinaka,’ who is said to be notorious for similar incidents.

    ‎The CP said 11 suspects have been arrested in connection with the case, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the alleged gang leader, “Odinaka.”

    ‎He also revealed that investigations is ongoing, adding that further details will be released in due course.
