    Police arraign guard for alleged toilet fixtures theft from employer’s house

    ‎A 33-year-old security guard, Mohammed Alih, was arraigned on Tuesdayi n a Magistrates’ Court in Kubwa, Abuja for allegedly stealing toilet fixtures from his employer’s house.

    ‎The police charged Alih with theft.

    ‎Alih however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

    ‎The Prosecution Counsel, J.N Atiku, told the court that the complainant, Loveth Nwafor, reported the matter at Efab Metropolis Estate Police Station in Karsana, Abuja in April.

    ‎Atiku informed the court that the complainant employed the defendant as a security guard to take care of her house at 8, Muritania Street Efab metropolis, Karsana, Abuja.

    ‎The police alleged that the defendant stole eight toilet seats worth N2 million, six water heaters and a table gas top.

    ‎The police alleged that the defendant committed a similar crime in his place of work.

    ‎She said during investigation the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of his action.

    ‎The police said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.

    ‎The Magistrate Oyepoju Mustapha asked the defendant who was not represented by a lawyer if he had any questions about the charge.

    ‎While the defendant struggled to ask questions, an Abuja-based lawyer, T.M Agoziem, who was in court for another matter, offered to stand in for the defendant.

    ‎The magistrate adjourned the case until June 22 for further hearing.
