Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, recently presented the 2024 appropriation bill to the Plateau State House of Assembly. This budget, named the “Budget of New Beginnings,” symbolizes a fresh start and a commitment to the advancement and growth of Plateau State.

The total budget estimate for the 2024 fiscal year amounts to N295,434,568,464.00. Its primary objective is to address the pressing needs of the people and achieve sustainable development across various sectors. The budget allocates funds to priority areas including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, security, and job creation.

Education takes precedence in the budget, with a significant portion of funds allocated to enhance the quality of education. This involves renovating and constructing schools, providing instructional materials, and offering teacher training programs.

The healthcare sector is also a focus, with provisions made to upgrade facilities, equip them with modern medical equipment, and enhance the capacity of healthcare workers. The aim is to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare services for all residents.

Recognizing agriculture as a major sector in the state, the budget includes increased funding to boost productivity. This entails providing modern farming equipment, improving access to fertilizers and seeds, and offering training to farmers. The goal is to enhance food security, create employment opportunities, and contribute to economic growth.

Infrastructure development is another key priority, with funds set aside for the construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and other critical projects. This will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic activities throughout the state.

Ensuring the safety of citizens is a top concern, and significant resources will be allocated to enhance the capacity of security agencies. This is vital for maintaining law and order and safeguarding the well-being of the people.

The budget emphasizes job creation and youth empowerment initiatives. Funds will be allocated for skills acquisition programs, entrepreneurship development, and youth empowerment, aiming to provide opportunities for the youth to thrive and contribute to the state’s development.

Governor Mutfwang expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the budget with the support of the House. He stressed the importance of collaboration to create a prosperous and inclusive future for Plateau State.

In essence, the 2024 budget for Plateau State, known as the “Budget of New Beginnings,” reflects the state government’s vision for progress and development. It addresses key areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, security, and job creation, striving to create a better future for all residents of Plateau State.
