Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has reportedly informed Brighton’s players that their manager, Roberto De Zerbi, is his chosen successor for the helm at the club, as reported by the UK Telegraph.
Roberto De Zerbi has made a significant impact in the Premier League since taking over from Graham Potter just over a year ago. Under his leadership, Brighton achieved a commendable sixth-place finish, securing European football for the first time in the club’s history. Brighton has also gained a reputation as one of the most attractive and entertaining teams in the English topflight.
It has come to light that after a match between Manchester City and Brighton at the Amex Stadium in May, Guardiola engaged in a conversation with a few Brighton players in the tunnel. During this exchange, Guardiola reportedly gestured towards De Zerbi and remarked, “that’s the next Man City manager.”
De Zerbi is highly regarded at the Etihad, although Guardiola still has the option to extend his contract, which is set to expire in 2025. This revelation has sparked speculation about the future of Manchester City’s managerial position.
