PDP Stakeholders Pass Vote of No Confidence on Ayu, Anyanwu, Gives Them 24hrs to Resign

There seems to be no end in sight to the crisis rocking the People’s Democratic party (PDP) as some of the party’s stakeholders have passed vote of no confidence on the National Chairman Senator Iyorcha Ayu, the party National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu and the Deputy National Chairman North, Umar Damagum and gave them 48 hours to resign or face legal action.

The demand for the party officers to resign was part of the resolutions by the Forum of PDP Candidates and Aspirants, who also petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party on their unanimous demand.

The Forum, which held its meeting in Abuja, threatened to launch a legal offensive that will forcefully exit the three officers from office.

They accused the party national officers of different allegations during the PDP congresses, primaries and national convention.

They pointed out that the underhand actions by the leadership of the party were largely responsible for the nullification by the courts of the governorship primaries in Zamfara State and all primaries held in Ogun State, noting that many more are still pending in Court.

In the communique read by the Forum Coordinator and House of Assembly Candidate in Ideato South, Hon. Chris Ogbu, the Forum demanded that Ayu, Anyanwu and Damagum should step down immediately or be sacked by the party within 48hrs.

The Forum said if they don’t step down they will face legal action to force them out of the office.

The Forum said that sharing money paid as a nomination form instead of utilizing it for the prosecution of the historic 2023 election of the party was very provocative and indicting the image of the party.

They lamented that voters now see them as a “come and chop or share the money party” and that removing Ayu and others will go a long way in showing that PDP is now a party that is intolerant of corruption.

The Forum said that it has already sent a strong-worded petition to the party NEC and demanded the following which includes; “the immediate resignation of the trio, the appointment of the highest office as Acting National Chairman before the allegation can be investigated as Ayu, Anyanwu and Damagum cannot be a judge in their case, notice to commence legal action in 48 hours if steps are not taken to address the issues.”
