    Participate in continuous voter registration exercise, Delta govt urges citizens

    The Delta State Government has appealed to citizens who have attained the age of 18 years and above to make themselves available for the In-Person voters registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, scheduled to commence on Monday 25th August 2025, across Nigeria, and in Delta State.

    The appeal was contained in a statement by the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, and made available to newsmen on Thursday.

    The state government said voter’s registration is a constitutional responsibility of every citizen, which enables a holder of the Permanent Voters Card, PVC, to cast his or her votes for candidates of choice during general elections, adding that registration centres are located in all local government offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission, in the state.

    According to the Bureau, the registration exercise will begin from 9.00am to 3.00pm during weekdays (Monday to Friday) only, to enable those who prefer the in-person option to register, and for the online pre-registrants to complete their registration, pointing out that

    the online and In-Person registration options will proceed simultaneously throughout the duration of the CVR as indicated in the schedule earlier released by INEC.

    The State Bureau for Orientation disclosed that it would embark on a state-wide sensitization campaigns, to include markets, Schools, motor parks and other places across the three senatorial districts to educate eligible citizens on the benefits of the Continuous Voters Registration exercise, CVR, adding that the registration is free of charge.

    The State Government urged all traditional rulers, heads of faith-based organisations, student union leaders, market leaders, elected representatives and political appointees to encourage and provide necessary assistance to their subjects, members and constituents, so as to enable them register during the exercise.

    “The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced its readiness to commence full-scale voters registration exercise nationwide from 25th August, 2025.

    “The exercise provides another unique opportunity for citizens who have attained the age of 18 years to register and collect their Permanent Voters Card, PVC.

    “The exercise will hold in all INEC offices across the 25 local government areas in Delta State, and across Nigeria.

    “Delta State Government is appealing to all eligible citizens of 18 years and above, to participate during the mandatory voters registration exercise.

    “It’s your civic and constitutional responsibility to register, collect your PVC and vote during general elections in 2027, and any other election conducted by INEC.

    “Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications will embark on a state-wide sensitization campaigns, and in the Mass media, to educate eligible citizens on the benefits of the voters registration exercise across the three senatorial districts,” the statement added.
