The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has selected Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, to chair the seven-member committee overseeing the gubernatorial primary election.

In a statement released by Kennedy Peretei, the state’s publicity secretary, it was disclosed that 627 delegates are slated to participate in the primary election, scheduled for Thursday.

The PDP leadership has opted for an indirect primary, with only the aforementioned delegates having the authority to elect the party’s nominee for the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election.

Peretei further revealed that seven gubernatorial aspirants received clearance from the Senator Sam Egwu screening committee to contest in the primary.

These delegates, drawn from the 18 local government areas of the state, will converge at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure, for the election process.

The statement emphasized that accreditation of delegates will commence at 10:00 am and advised non-delegates to maintain a reasonable distance from the venue.
