Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over the Federal Government’s silence in the face of the ongoing nationwide strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

Writing on his X-Handle on Monday, Obi warned that the strike is already inflicting serious hardship on citizens and damaging the economy.

“I am worried about the lack of response by the Government to the threat and eventual commencement of a strike by PENGASSAN, which is already having a very adverse impact on Nigerian citizens and the Nigerian economy,” Obi said.

He appealed to the Federal Government to act swiftly, stressing the need for a solution that balances the interests of workers, investors, and the Nigerian people.

“The protection of these interests in a win-win manner is the primary responsibility of any responsible government. The Federal Government must learn to nip in the bud labour crises that have the potential to worsen the suffering of our already struggling citizens,” he added.
