NOTICE OF REHABILITATION OF AMUWO 132/33kV SUBSTATION

    Published on

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Lagos Region, hereby notifies the public of the commencement of rehabilitation works at its Amuwo 132/33kV Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) by an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor. The project is scheduled to last 122 days, from March 18 to July 30, 2026.

To facilitate the commencement of the project, there was a temporary power interruption yesterday, March 18, 2026, to enable the safe decommissioning of the Amuwo Substation. The outage affected Apapa, Ilashe, and Atlas Cove 132/33kV Substations. Power supply has, however, been restored to the affected substations later yesterday, upon completion of the decommissioning process.

During the rehabilitation period, 40MVA and 30MVA mobile transformers at the Amuwo Transmission Substation will be available for Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) to offtake power for their customers in the affected areas.

This arrangement is aimed at minimising disruption and ensuring that electricity consumers are not subjected to a total blackout throughout the project duration.

TCN apologises for the inconveniences this will cause electricity customers in the affected areas.
