    Published on

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) says it is putting measures in place to ensure Rivers people don’t experience petroleum products scarcity especially in this yuletide.

Field Coordinator of NMDPRA, Port Harcourt Office, Tubo-Alabo Lionel, gave the assurance shortly after inspection around Petroleum depots in Port Harcourt.

The NMDPRA boss in Port Harcourt told our correspondent that the inspection exercise is to ascertain the stock of petrol in these depots so as to take further steps.

“We visited seven depots and the exercise is to ascertain how much petrol we have in stock. The Yuletide is here and we don’t want situations where we will run out of stock at the depots in Port Harcourt”, he said.

Lionel also said the Authority is working with stakeholders to check the price of petrol in the state.

He called on motorists not to panic buy especially in the festive season as there is enough products for supply.

“On pump price issues, we are working with stakeholders to find lasing solutions. Our team is out there ensuring marketers don’t take advantage of the public. We call on Rivers people not to panic buy these products as there is enough to carry the state.”

Meanwhile the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited Vice President, Adeyemi Adetunji had recently disclosed that it has two billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit in stock.

Adetunji said that the available stock is sufficient for at least 30 days and has programmed vessels and trucks to unconstrained depots while massive load-outs from depots to states are closely monitored to ease fuel queues.
