The Nigerian Navy has inaugurated a newly constructed duty cabin and remodelled quarter guard at the Naval Outpost, Onitsha, to boost personnel welfare and strengthen civil-military relations.

The Naval Outpost falls under the Central Naval Command, which oversees maritime and riverine operations across Bayelsa, Delta, Anambra, Edo and Kogi states.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Outpost Commanding Officer, Commander Rasheed Iginla, said the projects reflected the Navy’s commitment to improving operational efficiency and personnel well-being.

Representing the Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, Rear Adm. Suleiman Ibrahim, Commander Tanko Lengaya reaffirmed the command’s commitment to supporting the outpost’s operations and development.

Lengaya said the projects aligned with the strategic directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Idi Abbas, and the leadership vision of the Flag Officer Commanding.

He urged officers to embrace impact-driven leadership by building lasting legacies wherever they are deployed.

According to him, the new duty cabin will reduce duty-related stress by providing adequate rest facilities for personnel and officers on duty.

The Commanding Officer, Commander Kabir Yusuf, commended the Chief of the Naval Staff for providing the leadership and enabling environment that inspired innovation and professionalism.

Yusuf also appreciated the Flag Officer Commanding for his guidance and mentorship, which he said contributed significantly to the successful execution of the projects.

He further thanked the host community for its support, describing the collaboration as a strong example of effective civil-military partnership.

The inauguration featured the cutting of the commissioning ribbon and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, marking another milestone in infrastructure development at the Naval Outpost, Onitsha.
