The Nigeria Football Federation’s referees committee has suspended 14 referees due to their subpar performance. The decision, announced in a statement released on Monday, comes in response to multiple contentious calls made by referees in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season. One such incident involved referee Imamu Maliki disallowing a goal scored by Remo Stars against Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, on Sunday. The suspended referees will remain sidelined pending thorough investigations into their actions. The committee has requested full game videos for comprehensive assessment of the referees’ performances.
