    NECO releases 2025 SSCE results, records 71.63% credits, 9,016 malpractices

    The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the result of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, External with 68,166 out of 96,979 scoring five credits including English Language and Mathematics representing 71.63% of the total scores.

    Releasing the results at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof Ibrahim Wushishi said the results is coming 52 days after the conduct of the exams across the country held from Wednesday 26 November to Saturday 13 December, 2025

    He explained that a total of 96,979 candidates registered for the external exams out of which, 95, 160 actually wrote, with 50,785 male representing 53.36 percent of candidates and 44,375 representing 44.63 percent of females.

    Wushishi also said 82,082 candidates representing 86.26 percent got five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

    He, however, disclosed that a total 9,016 candidates were booked for various exams malpractice as against 6,160 in 2024, representing an 31.7 percent increase.

    The Registrar NECO revealed that five supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting examination malpractice.

    According to him, “Out of the five blacklisted supervisors, two were from the FCT, one each from Kano, Adamawa, and Ogun States for aiding and abetting examination malpractice during the conduct of the examination “.

    Prof Wushishi added, “Four centres, two from Niger State, one each from Yobe and Kano States, found to have been involved in malpractice were recommended for de-registration.”
