The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna State has reported the confiscation of 425,127kg of illicit drugs in April, along with the arrest of 71 suspects connected to various drug-related offenses.

Mr. Samaila Danmalam, the state NDLEA Commander, disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that the seized drugs included cannabis sativa, cocaine, rohypnol, methamphetamine, and heroin.

During the period under review, the agency also dislodged 10 drug joints, secured seven convictions, and arraigned six suspects in connection with drug crimes.

Danmalam highlighted the implementation of numerous enlightenment programs aimed at combating drug abuse through the agency’s non-kinetic approach. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with sister agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and the media in achieving these successes.

The commander called for continued support and cooperation from all stakeholders to eradicate drug abuse and make Kaduna State drug-free.
