Reverend Yakubu Pam, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), has issued a call to politicians to back the current administration and refrain from promoting divisive narratives.
Pam made this plea during a press conference held in Abuja over the weekend. While assessing the first 100 days of Tinubu’s administration, he also commended the president for diffusing campaign-related tensions stirred by politicians who raised concerns about religious persecution due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Additionally, Reverend Pam shared that he recently visited the Presidential Villa to express gratitude for President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s strong support for NCPC, which serves as Nigeria’s sole facilitator of Christian pilgrimage.
Reverend Pam, who also serves as the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the North Central Zone, encompassing Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Kwara states, and the FCT, emphasized the detrimental impact of disinformation and misinformation in the political sphere. He highlighted that the aggressive spread of false information poses a significant threat to democracy, national unity, and peace in Nigeria.
Pam underlined the multitude of challenges Nigeria faces in its pursuit of genuine developmental goals within the current administration. He urged politicians and their supporters to rise above the dissemination of dangerous propaganda and mischievous information, emphasizing the importance of preserving national unity, peace, and progress.
