The National Hospital Abuja (NHA) has refuted claims that it referred veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji to a private medical facility. The denial was issued in a statement signed by the NHA spokesman, Tayo Haastrup, on behalf of the Chief Medical Director.

Zack Orji had been admitted to the hospital after falling ill, and the statement clarified the sequence of events. According to Haastrup, the actor was brought in on New Year’s Eve and initially admitted to the intensive care unit, where he was stabilized. Subsequently, he was moved to the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) ward and later transferred to the orthopaedic ward for surgery preparations.

Haastrup explained that the planned surgery was disrupted due to the family signing a “Leaving Against Medical Advice” form on January 1, 2024. This form hindered the hospital’s preparations for the surgery.

The statement concluded by expressing the hospital’s wish for Zack Orji’s speedy recovery, dismissing any notion that the hospital had referred him to a private medical facility.”
