In a bid to address escalating security concerns, the Nasarawa State Government has revealed plans to install Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in the state capital, Lafia, and its environs.

Hajiya Munira Abdullahi, the State Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Planning, made this announcement while presenting the breakdown of the 2024 State Budget Proposal on Friday at it’s conference hall.

The proposed budget, named “Budget of Renewed Commitment,” reflects a strategic response to prevailing challenges, particularly the pressing issue of insecurity.

The Commissioner emphasized that the allocation of over five hundred million Naira for security devices aims to enhance surveillance on major streets and public structures in Lafia and key towns across the 13 local government headquarters.

Addressing the growing threat of kidnapping and armed robbery, Hajiya Munira Abdullahi underscored the importance of this initiative in preventing potential hindrances to the state’s development. She stressed that allowing such criminal activities to persist unchecked could significantly impede progress.

In addition to the security measures, the 2024 Budget Proposal prioritizes the construction of rural roads and the creation of job opportunities for women and youths.

The Commissioner highlighted these focus areas as critical components to foster overall development and prosperity in Nasarawa State.
