The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPADEC) has delivered a substantial consignment of relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), particularly those displaced during the recent Yelewata attack in Benue State.

This gesture is a continuation of the organisation’s show of solidarity with victims of violent attacks in the state.

The Acting Managing Director of N-HYPADEC, Jimoh Haruna Gabi, yesterday at the State Emergency Management Agency’s office in Makurdi, presented the relief materials to the Benue State Government, comprising mattresses, rubber mats, bags of rice, seasoning, soap, mosquito nets, and other essential items.

The materials also included 10 Hero Hunter motorcycles to enhance mobility and field response.

Gabi, during the ceremony, emphasized the urgency of the moment, acknowledging the lives lost in recent attacks while focusing on the living who require urgent assistance.

He urged increased vigilance and proactive engagement in environmental and security intelligence efforts.

The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, while receiving the donations on behalf of the state government, expressed appreciation for N-HYPADEC’s consistent support.

He also commended the organisation’s timely response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the attack on Yelewata and pledged that the materials would be utilized for their intended purpose.

Ode called for proactive collaboration with N-HYPADEC in disaster preparedness, to act before emergencies strike.

The Permanent Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. James Iorpuu, represented by the Head of Administration at SEMA, Dr. Komgbenda, expressed appreciation to the organisation for the support.

He noted that the support would also go to the people of Naka, who are grappling with a huge humanitarian situation caused by a similar attack.
