TCN hails NSCDC for arrest of three suspected vandals in Osun

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has hailed the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for the arrest of three suspects caught vandalising transmission equipment at the Oshogbo Transmission Substation.

This was disclosed in a statement by TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, on Monday.

According to TCN, the suspects, Adigwe {52), Bomi (39), and Seyi (42), were apprehended on November 1st, 2025, while dismantling three 132 kV DS contact isolators stored in a container designated for tools and materials at the TCN Oshogbo Substation linked to the country’s national grid.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that five out of eighteen DS contact isolators had been dismantled by the suspects. The three suspects were found in possession of three of the vandalised isolators belonging to TCN.

“One of the suspects, Adigwe, reportedly admitted that he and his accomplices tampered with the equipment without authorisation or a valid TCN permit,” the statement reads.

Recall that TCN has announced that a similar incident occurred on November 3rd, 2025, when local vigilantes in Upu Community, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, apprehended five suspects while vandalising the Otukpo–Yandev 132 kV single-circuit transmission line.

“TCN assures that, upon conclusion of investigations, all suspects will be charged to court in line with existing laws on the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

“The company reiterates its call for collective responsibility in safeguarding power infrastructure and urges members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities around electricity installations to the nearest security agency or TCN office,” the statement added.
