Several passengers sustained injuries on Monday following a serious road accident involving a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus (commonly known as Danfo) on Lagos’ 3rd Mainland Bridge.

The accident occurred shortly before Adekunle Junction, heading toward Lagos Island. Eyewitnesses reported that the Danfo somersaulted multiple times after the collision, resulting in significant injuries among the passengers.

In a statement by the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), it was confirmed that no fatalities were recorded in the incident.

RRS operatives, including motorcycle and patrol units, responded swiftly to the scene, administering first aid and assisting the injured.

Officers from the Adekunle Police Division also arrived at the scene and collaborated with emergency responders to evacuate victims and provide rescue support.

The RRS stated: “A road traffic accident involving a Toyota Camry and a commercial bus (Danfo) occurred before Adekunle Junction, inward Lagos Island, leaving several passengers injured. The bus reportedly somersaulted multiple times after the collision.

“RRS bikers and patrol vehicles were deployed to administer first aid, while personnel from the Adekunle Police Division are also on the ground, supporting the rescue operation.

“Emergency response teams have been mobilised. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the incident.”

Both vehicles were subsequently removed from the road, allowing for the restoration of normal traffic flow.
