In a recent legal development, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation, has been found guilty and convicted of defiling his wife’s 16-year-old niece by the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court. The court imposed a severe double life imprisonment sentence as punishment for the heinous crimes committed.

The prosecution successfully presented evidence supporting two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Dr. Olaleye. The case was brought to light by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and the trial was presided over by Justice Rahman Oshodi.

Initially, Dr. Olaleye pleaded not guilty during his arraignment. However, Justice Oshodi, in delivering the verdict, cited compelling evidence that unequivocally proved his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The judge emphasized a confessional statement made by the defendant before his lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Buruji, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Anthony Police Station. This statement expressed Dr. Olaleye’s regret for his actions, solidifying his culpability.

Despite the defendant’s denial of the statement, it was revealed that the document bore the NBA seal of Mr. Buruji, lending authenticity to the confession. Justice Oshodi sternly referred to Dr. Olaleye as a “dangerous offender” and admonished him, stating that he should feel a deep sense of shame for his actions.
