Manchester United Offer Højlund Plus Cash for Osimhen

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a player-plus-cash deal to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, as they aim to strengthen their attacking options. The 25-year-old Nigerian has been linked with several top clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG. However, a report from CalcioNapoli24 indicates that Manchester United are firmly in the race.

The Red Devils have proposed a deal that includes cash along with their striker Rasmus Højlund for Osimhen. It remains to be seen if Napoli will accept such an offer. Højlund, who joined United last season, had an impressive debut campaign in England. The Danish international is considered a prodigious talent with a bright future, making it surprising if United decide to sanction his departure.

Napoli are prepared to cash in on Osimhen this summer, despite him being their leading scorer for the past two seasons, including their Scudetto-winning 2022/23 campaign. The Nigerian forward, having proven himself in Italian football, may seek a new challenge in another league, with the Premier League being a potential destination.

Following his contract extension with Napoli, Osimhen’s release clause was set between €120m and €130m. However, this high amount has been a stumbling block for potential suitors, prompting the club to reduce their asking price to €100m.

While Napoli have been anticipating offers from clubs like Chelsea, United, and PSG, no official approach has been made, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The club previously turned down a bid exceeding €200m from a Saudi Arabian team last summer.

Osimhen, who was signed from Lille in 2020 for around €75m, has established himself as one of the most exciting strikers in world football. His potential move to Manchester United could significantly bolster their attacking prowess, should the deal materialize.
