Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has addressed the criticism surrounding her recent comments about taking her teenage daughter, Similoluwa, to a nightclub.
In a conversation with content creator Mr Lil Gaga, Bakare had revealed that she accompanied her 17-year-old daughter to a club for the first time and allowed her to taste alcohol, describing it as a way of preparing her for adulthood.
Her remarks quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. Many Nigerians condemned the actress, accusing her of promoting irresponsible parenting and perpetuating negative stereotypes about single mothers.

Responding to the backlash, Bakare took to Instagram to clarify her statements, insisting her words had been misunderstood. She shared a video from her daughter’s birthday after-party and explained that she never claimed to have introduced her daughter to alcohol.

She wrote: “Let me mention clearly here that I never said I introduced my daughter, @simlineboss, to alcohol. I only stated that she entered a club with me for the very first time in her life at her birthday after party. How is that bad naw?”

The actress emphasized that her goal was simply to create a special experience for her daughter and urged critics to stop misrepresenting her
