In a significant political development, the entire structure of the Labour Party (LP) in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State has officially been dissolved and absorbed into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The announcement was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday.
This realignment underscores shifting dynamics in the region, as notable Labour Party leaders, members, and grassroots supporters declared their full support for the ADC.
According to party insiders, the decision followed weeks of consultations and deliberation on Nigeria’s current socio-political state.
A communiqué issued after the meeting described the defection as a “bold and strategic decision,” motivated by a shared commitment to rescuing Nigeria from the continued hardship and governance failures under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.
“The decision to collapse the Labour Party structure into the ADC in Ogbadibo LGA is a result of deep reflection and collective willpower. We believe the ADC offers a more people-oriented, transparent, and progressive political alternative,” said one stakeholder.
The meeting was attended by former LP ward executives, youth leaders, women coordinators, and community mobilizers from across the local government. It ended with a declaration of total loyalty to the African Democratic Congress moving forward.
Commenting on the development, Agada Onu, Director of New Media and Strategic Communication to Hon. Domfrank Ochigbo, confirmed the merger and emphasized its significance.
“This bold and strategic decision stems from the collective resolve to rescue Nigeria from the failed leadership and widespread hardship caused by the APC-led administration,” Onu stated.
He added that the merger aims to build a stronger political base that prioritizes citizens’ needs and upholds democratic values at both local and national levels.
