Labour Party chair mocks Tinubu over APC crisis

President Bola Tinubu’s recent jibe at opposition parties, declaring delight at their internal wranglings, has drawn a sharp rebuke from the Acting National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman.

Describing the President’s remarks as “undemocratic” and “beneath his office”, Usman said:
“A President who rejoices at the weakening of opposition is, by implication, celebrating the weakening of democracy itself.”

Usman pointed to the irony of the APC’s North-East summit in Gombe, which ended in disarray amid accusations of excluding Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“This is not poetic justice. It is political karma,” she remarked, noting that the party’s internal rot had been laid bare.
“What President Tinubu wished for others has now visited his own political household,” she added.

She criticised the APC’s attempts to undermine Vice President Shettima in his home zone as “a dangerous sign that truth and loyalty are traded cheaply in the corridors of power”.

Calling for political maturity, Usman said the Labour Party would not gloat but would remain committed to building a Nigeria where opposition is protected as a democratic necessity.
