The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, has described as encouraging the level of construction going on in the two campuses of the institution at Osi and Ilesha-Baruba.

Prof. Ambali, who gave this assessment after the Governing Council’s inspection visits to the campuses to know the state of work, said the University was keen to commence academic activities in the two campuses in the coming academic year.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, who reiterated that the State Government was interested in early completion of the projects and take-off of academic activities, stated that all machinery has been put in place to ensure that the target is met.

Prof. Ambali added that while the Council was impressed with the state of the work, the University would begin weekly monitoring of work on the projects to ensure that they are delivered according to schedule.

In his reaction to the level of construction on the campuses, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, said the Governor was keeping to his promise to get the campuses operational which necessitated the re-awarding of the contract to another company.

He added: “The impact of the campuses coming operational was immense, hence the zeal shown by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”

The lead consultant on the projects, Architect Mohammed Jimoh Faworaja, who said the projects were on track to be ready for use by the end of September, disclosed
that most of the infrastructure was at different stages of advanced completion, which was a good sign that the target date was feasible.

An inspection of the facilities on the campuses revealed class rooms, lecture halls, offices, water reticulation, connection to public power supply, and construction of road network were in advanced stages of completion.

Meanwhile, the visits of the Governing Council to the two communities of Osi and Ilesha-Baruba were received by joyous community members who trooped out to show their eagerness to have the campuses become operational.
