The Kogi State Government has warned politicians in the state against engaging in divisive politics and uncouth confrontation capable of destabilizing the state.
The state security adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara gave the warning while speaking at a one-day workshop organised by his office in collaboration with the Kogi Women Empowerment Coalition (KWEC) on Tuesday in Lokoja.
Omodara stressed that Kogi State is moving forward and that no individual or group will be allowed to destabilise the state.
Omodara warned those using insecurity to destabilise the state to desist, advising them to collaborate with the government to move the state forward.
The Security Adviser emphasised that such actions will no longer be tolerated.
“As we soon begin political activities, you are mothers and sisters remain a force to be reckoned with.
“You remain focused, not to allow selfish individuals to divide us, as we give our unalloyed support to the government of Mr President – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo.
“It is disheartening to see that some individuals are already up in the game to divide the people of Kogi State, planting the seeds of discord amongst the people.
“They are forming unholy alliances, dropping names of some politicians and trying to break into places they cannot. Our people can no longer be taken for granted.
“The current political settings in Kogi State have direction, which will be followed when the time comes. East, West and Central are now better informed than ever.
“I wish to call on my people of Kogi West, particularly the Okun nation that we are better under the current arrangements and we are sure we will soon get to our destination with strong alliance and partnership with other Districts.
“I must categorically warn those who are trying to use insecurity to destabilise us as a people, to desist henceforth.
“I advise them to collaborate with the state government to move the State forward. We elected you to represent us and not destabilize us.
“Also, let it be known clearly that gangsterism, selfishness and uncouth confrontation from our elected officials are being taken note of and we will sure wait for them and show them our true colour.
“Let us leave here more determined to build a Kogi State that is peaceful, united, and full of renewed hope,” Omodara stated.
He commended the women of Kogi State for their unwavering support for the government and urged them to remain focused and vigilant, rejecting efforts by selfish individuals to divide the people.
The Regional Coordinator of KWEC, Mrs Stella Olobayotan, urged the women to monitor the activities of their children towards building a safe secured and peaceful society and the nation at large.
The workshop themed: “Building Trust for a Renewed Hope”, was attended by women representatives across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State.
