The crisis within the Katsina State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is intensifying as the Caretaker Committee accuses a faction of collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the party. Lawal Audi Yar’adua, spokesperson for the caretaker committee, addressed the media to clarify the ongoing controversies, particularly those raised by Salisu Uli, a former chairman of the party.
Uli had claimed that the caretaker committee had failed to make forms available for congress elections, but Audi refuted this, stating that the sales of forms were completed transparently over two months ago. Audi accused Uli’s faction of avoiding party processes and instead challenging the committee’s legitimacy at the time.
Audi suggested that Uli’s actions might be politically motivated by the APC, aiming to weaken the Katsina PDP further. He noted that Uli and his supporters, including Salisu Majigiri, a House of Representatives member, appeared to be aligned with the APC following former Governor Ibrahim Shema’s defection to the party.
Emphasizing party unity, Audi praised Senator Lado Danmarke’s leadership and commitment to the people of Katsina State, contrasting it with the discord sown by others. He expressed confidence in the PDP’s resilience and urged members to remain steadfast in their support for the party despite internal challenges.
