Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the full restoration of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) after 96 hours of downtime.
The board said CAPS was restored and became fully operational on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
JAMB regretted the inconvenience caused to candidates, institutions and other stakeholders, and thanked them for their patience during the disruption.
It said the temporary unavailability was due to an administrative challenge involving its hosting organisation, adding that it worked with service providers to restore and stabilise the platform.
The board urged all institutions to accelerate admission processes to recover lost time and comply with deadlines agreed at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions.
Under the agreed timelines, admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session are to be concluded as follows: Public universities: on or before October 31, 2026.
Private universities: on or before November 30, 2026.
Other tertiary institutions: on or before December 31, 2026
JAMB particularly urged public universities to intensify admissions following the recent release of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination results by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
It said private universities should work towards the November 30 deadline to allow other categories of institutions sufficient time to conclude by end of December.
The board assured stakeholders that it will promptly consider and approve admission recommendations submitted through CAPS as institutions accelerate the process.
It also advised candidates who were awaiting NECO results to immediately upload or verify their results to ensure availability for consideration.
JAMB said beyond the immediate restoration, it is putting in place redundancy and business-continuity measures to strengthen the resilience, stability and reliability of CAPS and reduce dependence on any single hosting environment.
