IYC commends President Tinubu, NSA for appointing Otuaro, as PAP Coordinator, condemn comment by group

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has commended President Bola Amed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu for appointing Chief Dennis Otuaro, as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, (PAP) condemn statement by Coalition Of Niger Delta Civil Society Organisations.

The commendation and condemnation were given in a statement signed in Yenagoa on Monday by IYC spokesman, Amb. Binebai Princewill.

The statement appreciated Tinubu for not only finding Otuaro worthy of the appointment but also listening to the yearnings of the council and the Ijaw people in general.

According to the statement, Otuaro’s appointment is coming at a time when the nation needs committed and result-oriented leaders at the helm of its affairs.

The council described the new administrator as a tested and trusted leader in the Niger Delta; a man conversant with the myriad of issues bedevilling the region.

According to the statement, while it is not in the character of the Ijaw Youth Council to respond to every Tom, Dick and Harry, it is doing so in this case for the sake of public interest.

“It is important we respond to certain elements that have vowed never to see a progressive Niger Delta region with their paid masters with particular regard to a very strange group masquerading under the auspices of Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organisations.

“Wherein the group was seen making a remark that President Tinubu and Nubu Ribadu, NSA should revisit the appointment of Otuaro as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

“To us, the remark against Otuaro, from the Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organisations is not only reckless, careless, provocative and insulting but a move against the progress of Niger Delta and the Amnesty Programme.

“We find it very disrespectful seeing how people organise themselves under whatever guise to fight against the collective growth and progress of the region.

“As critical stakeholders in the region, the IYC will not allow and accept such garbage from such groups seeking relevance by all means,” the statement reads.

The IYC spokesman, called on President Tinubu, the NSA, to completely ignore the said group of persons as they do not even know the sacrifices the people make.

According to him, the IYC as critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large is particularly happy with the appointment of Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
