The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said it would deploy drones to ensure adequate security in the nation’s capital.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike disclosed this on Thursday when he received in his office, a delegation from the Consulate General of Hungary, led by the Consul General, Mr Endre P. Deri.

Wike said that although the administration has been able to reduce the issue of insecurity in Abuja, there are plans to procure more security equipment for the security agencies.

The minister stated that the issue of security is of priority to the administration, which, according to him, is in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, “Security has been an issue, but by the grace of God, we’ve been able to reduce the level of insecurity. You can attest to the fact that Abuja is safer now because of the way we have been able to tackle the issue.

Luckily for us, it is part of our procurement process to have drones. I can tell you that the issue of security for us is a priority, in terms of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He noted that Hungary is one of the countries that have excelled in the agricultural sector, adding that the FCT is ready to provide land for Hungarian agricultural experts that are willing to come and invest in food production to ensure food security in the territory .

Speaking earlier, Deri had explained that he was on the visit to seek avenues for partnership with the FCT administration in the areas of security and agriculture.

He commended the minister for the unprecedented development in the FCT since assuming office, even as he also thanked him for the assistance in facilitating the introduction of the Hungarian Scholarship and Studies programme, where about 1,800 Nigerian students are now studying in Hungary.
