‎The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said, on Tuesday, it has concluded arrangement, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, to enforce restrictions on the operation of commercial tricycles (Keke NAPEP) and motorcycles (okada) in some parts of Abuja.

‎Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, who revealed this during a media chat, in Abuja, said his administration has already approved logistics support for security agencies, and have started mapping out areas where the operation of commercial tricycles and motorcycles would no longer be permitted.

‎The FCT Minister, however, added that a complete ban across Abuja, would be difficult to implement, restricting their operations within the city centre was necessary.

‎“Just this morning, I signed an approval because we had an Executive Council meeting. I’ve told the security details to map out areas where we do not need the Keke NAPEP and motorcycles,” Wike said.

‎He added that the restriction would focus on areas where the presence of commercial tricycles and motorcycles was considered unsuitable.

‎”But it’ll be difficult to ban them entirely in Abuja. Particularly, it is necessary within the city not to allow Keke NAPEP and okada,” the minister stated.

‎Wike further revealed that he had approved the release of resources to support security personnel responsible for implementing the directive.

‎“I just made approval this morning to release some logistics,” he said.
