Governorship candidate of the Accord Party (AP) in Anambra state, Charles Onyeze has assured the party’s preparedness to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
Onyeze gave the assurance in Awka during his acceptance speech after clinching the party ticket in the primary election ahead of the November 8, 2025 gubernatorial poll in the State.
He however underscored the place of unity of purpose among party faithful to achieve the dream.
He said, “I’ll like us to work as a family. If your brother offends you, don’t resort to backbiting. Tell him face to face he has offended you and reconcile with him.
“Our major interest and what we are fighting for is for peace and betterment of our beloved state, Anambra. But we must be united in one accord with one heart to achieve that.
“Anambra has always been a state of envy, but what’s happening in the state is frightening. Very soon, someone will be in his house and will be taken away and murdered.
“That’s why all hands must be on deck to rescue this state and make it what it ought to be. What we need for this rescue mission is not the problem. Anyhow they want it, we’re prepared for the battle.”
Underscoring the positive impact of his Humanitarian Foundation, the guber hopeful promised to expand its reach if elected governor.
He also pledged his commitment to an inclusive government if elected.
“My administration will ensure that no local government or community is overlooked in our developmental efforts,” he added.
Earlier, State Chairman of the party, Bath Igwedibia commended the peaceful process of the exercise, especially when contrasted with the turbulent nature of other parties’ primaries.
“It has been a peaceful process because we are a law-abiding party, and everyone comported themselves in an orderly manner.
“Our party is number one on the ballot, and we will maintain that status,” he stressed.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee,
Elder Ibe Kelechukwu said the electoral process adhered to the party’s constitution and stipulations of the Electoral Act.
He also confirmed the presence of representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election, reinforcing the legitimacy of the entire process.
Onyeze who was sole aspirant to purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms was returned unopposed through option A4 voting.
He garnered 93 votes out of 105 accredited delegates from the party, with five delegates representing each Local Government Area.
