In recognition of her remarkable achievement, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has rewarded Aminat Yusuf, the exceptional graduating Law student from Lagos State University (LASU), with a sum of ₦10 million.
Governor Sanwo-Olu presented the monetary reward to Yusuf, who achieved a perfect CGPA of 5.0, during the 26th convocation ceremony of LASU held in the Ojo-Iyana Iba area of Lagos State.
The governor personally donated ₦5 million, and an additional ₦5 million was contributed by the Lagos State government in honor of Yusuf, who shattered a 40-year-old record at LASU.
Yusuf, a student from the Faculty of Law, emerged as the best graduating student for the 2021/2022 academic session, earning a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0.
Her exceptional accomplishment has garnered attention, leading to additional rewards. The Oniba of Iba Kingdom, Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Raji, bestowed ₦2 million upon her and pledged full sponsorship for her Law School education.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, had announced that Yusuf would receive a cash prize of ₦500,000 from the university. She further highlighted that out of the 10,183 graduating students, 282 obtained First-Class honors in various fields.
In addition to Yusuf’s distinction as the top first-class graduate for the 2021/2022 academic session, Feyisayo Lopez from the Department of Physiology, College of Medicine, achieved the highest CGPA of 4.91 for the 2020/2021 session.
