The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, Monday, received hundreds of defectors from the Lokoja LGA Chapter of the Social Democratic Party.
The Defectors joined the All Progressives Congress at an event organized to thank the people of Lokoja LGA for their support for the administration of Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo.
The Governor was represented at the thank you visit by the State Accountant General, Hajia Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko who expressed appreciation for the support enjoyed this far from the people of Lokoja LGA.
While assuring the crowd of his administration’s commitment to make the welfare of the people his priority, Gov. Ododo reiterated his commitment to making the welfare of the people cardinal objectives of his administration.
He assured that aside the infrastructure his administration has provided for the people, assured that in the coming days they people of Lokoja will witness more roads, health and transformation in the health sector.
The Governor urged women to place emphasis on the growth and upbringing of their children, pointing out that women as bedrock of national development, should not fold there hands in raising future leaders.
Also speaking, the Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, RT Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, the Member Representing Lokoja Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Danladi Aguye and the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, said the people of Lokoja LGA have had a fair share of the administration of the administration of Gov Ododo, expressed optimism that the coming days would be better with the priority placed by the administration in Lokoja.
Also speaking, the Council Chairman, Lokoja LGA, Comr. Abdullahi Adamu commended the priority the administration of Gov Ododo placed in security, assured that Lokoja would strive to remain peaceful for living and businesses.
The high point of the event was the presentation of hundreds of Social Democratic Party members from Lokoja LGA who detected to the All Progressives Congress by the Party Chairman, Hon. Maikudi Bature, said their defection is influenced by the leadership of style of Gov. Ododo who has created enabling environment for good governance.
Speaking on behalf of the SDP defectors, Mohammed Sani Yusuf, Deputy State Chairman Lokoja SDP, said having considered all options, have no reason to continue to remain in the opposition.
