    Goronyo flags off 23-kilometre Durbawa–Maikujera Road project in Sokoto state

    The Minister of State for Works, Hon. Bello Muhammad Gorony has formally flagged off the construction of the 23-kilometre Durbawa–Maikujera Road Project in Sokoto State, describing the project as a strategic investment that will enhance connectivity, stimulate economic activities, and improve the living conditions of rural communities.
    Speaking at the ceremony held as part of activities marking the third anniversary of the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, the Minister commended the Governor for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development and people-oriented governance.
    Goronyo stated that roads remain critical to national development because they facilitate the movement of people, goods, and services while improving access to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
    According to him, the Durbawa–Maikujera Road Project is a clear demonstration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s vision to expand rural connectivity, open up communities for economic growth, and improve the quality of life of citizens.
    He noted that upon completion, the road would significantly reduce travel time, boost agricultural and commercial activities, and create new opportunities for economic prosperity across the benefiting communities.
    The Minister further observed that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and reflects the commitment of the Sokoto State Government to complement the Federal Government’s efforts in delivering meaningful development to the people.Through strategic investments in infrastructure, human capital development, security, and economic empowerment, the Government of Sokoto State is contributing significantly to the realization of national development objectives and the delivery of democratic dividends,” he said.
    Rt. Hon. Goronyo emphasized that the project exemplifies the benefits of cooperative governance and highlights the important role of state governments in translating national policies into practical outcomes that positively impact citizens.
    He also acknowledged the contributions and support of stakeholders, including Distinguished Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, CON, members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials, and community leaders.
    Goronyo urged residents of the state to continue supporting the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort, partnership, and active citizen participation.
    While formally flagging off the project, Goronyo expressed confidence that the road would bring lasting economic benefits, improved transportation, and greater opportunities for the people of the area.
    The Durbawa- Maikujera Road Project is one of several developmental projects being undertaken by the Sokoto State Government to expand infrastructure, strengthen economic growth, and improve the welfare of citizens across the state.
